J. Muntu Washington
J’s love of fitness started with basketball at the age of seven. During high school at South Garland, where he was a basketball standout, he began his 16 years of strength training, and developed his love for running. J is an avid fitness enthusiast who earned a Bachelors of science degree in biology from Grambling State University, where he performed with the power lifting team, became intramural racquetball runner-up champion, and studied on a fellowship awarded by the Environmental Protection Agency.
After his undergraduate work J studied at Life Chiropractic College, which spurred him to further hone his focus on total body health. Due to a family illness, J returned to Garland, TX and has since earned a Group Fitness Instructor and Adventure Boot Camp Instructor certification.
J who has recently participated in the “Run the Rock”, “Big D Fair Park”, and White Rock “The Half” half marathons, is currently pursuing a specialized running coach certification. If you’re looking for J, he can be seen regularly running at parks, on trails, tracks, in the streets of Garland, downtown Dallas, and wherever else there is air to breath and surface to run on!
J’s passion for fitness is rivaled only by his love for cooking. J’s definition of sustenance is to focus on lavishing the palate with flavors while providing essential nutritional. This is the backbone of his culinary philosophy. J’s years of practical cooking experience, culinary classes, and catering experience guarantees that he will be offering his very own fitness cuisine to the public at some point in the future.
J. strives to educate people on the fact that optimal fitness is not singular. It is not dependant solely upon either an exercise program, or changing one’s diet. It is dependant on a practical knowledge of both, which enables individuals to make better decisions consistently, thereby sustaining a progressingly healthier lifestyle.
